Message but higher harmonics of the driving frequency (engine rpm) can still excite the resonance of the crank. Harmonics will be much lower in excitation amplitude, so the vibration will not be as severe, and I think the dampener's purpose is to damp those vibrations. If the resonance of the crank actually fell inside the engine operating rpms, the amount of excitation will be beyond the capability of such a damper IMHO.
